Abel Lago - Dakhla Wave Coaching Trip

Abel_Camp_2 Abel will be running a wave riding coaching trip here in Dakhla, and this is what its all about:

GETTING HERE: Just catch a flight to Casablanca, and then on to Dakhla with www.royalairmaroc.com. There are 5 flights per week. As soon as you land, you will find us at the airport ready to meet you!

STAY: We have arranged the perfect solution for your accommodation, close to the best wave spots that Dakhla has to offer. We will include your breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as arrange a group barbecue out in the desert.

LEARN AND PROGRESS: If you are wanting to start wave riding this is your perfect chance. To be at a spot where you have a variety of conditions that allow you to get started with perfect waves for your progression, with Abels supervision and advice, you will be addicted in no time.

For more advanced wave riders, Dakhla offers some amazing conditions to get the most out of this trip. Abel will be there to ride with you, give you coaching advice, help you tune your gear, try some of the latest RRD gear, and get ripping in no time.

TIME TO CHILL: Don't forget that this is a vacation for you! So no stress, and you can do things in your own time…. Coaching/tips/video analysis will be about 4 hours per day, so you also have plenty of time to relax and take it easy, it thats what you want!

THE SPOT: Dakhla, in the very south of Morocco, know by many as a freestyle/freeride spot due to the 40km lagoon and endless amounts of space, is also an incredible wave spot. There is a choice of spots where we will be riding: Foum Loubouir, La Sarga, Pointe D'Or….. We will be searching for the top conditions for the group, and a variety of conditions to get the most out of your trip. We will have our 4x4s to take us to each spot, exploring Dakhla and checking out this amazing place.

Genova, il surfista scomparso nel tornado

Lo cercano da sabato mattina, ma di lui nessuna traccia. Il padre: "se non torna ho perso tutto"

09:24 - E’ scomparso sabato mattina insieme alla sua tavola da surf rossa e da allora non se ne hanno tracce. Maurizio Millenari, 38enne genovese rappresentante di prodotti ittici con la passione per il surf, si trovava con degli amici davanti a Vasima quando il forte vento di tramontana ha reso loro difficile il ritorno a riva.

A trovarsi in difficoltà sono stati in due, Maurizio e un altro surfista, che ha chiesto aiuto con il cellulare: un’ora dopo le motovedette della Capitaneria erano già sul posto, ma Maurizio era scomparso. Da due giorni gli elicotteri e le vedette della Guardia Costiera e dei vigili del fuoco cercano l’uomo senza sosta, persino i pescatori danno una mano, sono stati coperti oltre 1.600 km quadrati d’acqua: “Abbiamo setacciato due terzi del Mar Ligure – ha detto il capitano di corvetta Massimo Kothmeier – ma non ci rassegniamo”. Il capitano ha inoltre assicurato alla famiglia di Maurizio che le ricerche continueranno anche nei prossimi giorni, ma si teme che l’uomo abbia abbandonato la tavola per provare a raggiungere la riva a nuoto, cosa assolutamente sconsigliabile in questi casi. “Non posso credere che non torni, non posso accettarlo. Se ho perso lui ho perso tutto” ripeteva ieri il padre di Maurizio.

Guarda il video della tromba d’aria che ieri pomeriggio si è alzata all’orizzonte a sette miglia dalla costa ligure.

Alby's November Update

How do I feel to be 3rd in the world?
Absolutely stoked!

Most of you reading this will probably already know that after a tough final event in New Caledonia where I came fifth, I still had enough points to keep the third place that I'd been defending for so long. The feeling is great and I still haven't come down yet! A big thanks goes out to all those who have made this possible for me, friends, family, manager and of course all my sponsors - Cabrinha, NP, Hype, Totosì, Rebel 76.
I couldn't imagine ending the season in a better way and NC is a pretty cool place to party in!
I was pretty happy with my performance in the singles elimination, but I wish I'd been able to find a little bit more against Marc Jacobs - I know I can beat him, but it just wasn't to be on the day. I really should have done better in the doubles too, but congratulations to Cristophe Tack who beat me into fifth place and had a super day!
Of course congratulations to Youri Zoon and Alex Pastor and thanks for making it such an exciting final!
Now it's up to me to get all my training in and prepare myself mentally so that I'll be a serious challenge for the top spot in 2013.

4th place PKRA in China

The whole event was a really great experience for me. As well as the competition the social side of things was really great and I had a real good time with my dad too! I was disappointed that the doubles event had to be cancelled as I was pretty mad at the judges after the singles, who were giving, in my opinion, too many points for the high stuff. And even though I landed the very first Moby Dick 5 in a competition it wasn't enough for me to get the third place!
I had a similar issue with in Venezuela, but as they say, the judges decision is final! And because of the poor conditions on the final day when we should have been running the doubles I wasn't able to get higher up in the event and ended up fourth with Kevin Langaree getting closer to me in the overall rankings.
The setting for the competition was really interesting and the people there were brilliant. The only thing I had trouble getting to grips with was the food! Next time I'll take a pack of piadina! Ha!

media coverage - what a month!

Being a pro kiteboarder isn't just about doing a few tricks and soaking up the sun! I've been really busy with interviews as well and have been hitting some pretty important shows and magazines which are not about kite and surf. They ran a full page article on me in Ragazza Moderna in the summer issue. They showed my Brazil video on national TV in a travel programme called Alle Falde del Kilimangiaro right at the beginning and on 29 November I'm going to be on national radio on Zona Cesarini - a really important sports programme and next week on Capitan UnCino a national web radio programme about sailing. Then in Februray the Ryanair in-flight magazine will have an article about me and the Canary Islands. Keep watching this newsletter for more updates.

Cabrinha Quest

If you haven't seen it yet, take a 5 min break and watch the Cabrinha Quest - Canary Islands. It was wicked to be a part of this initiative and great to bond with everybody in one of my favourite place in the world.

RIO 2016: RIENTRA IL WINDSURF, ESCLUSO IL KITE

HANNO FATTO FUORI IL KITESURF, c'eravamo illusi...

Clamoroso al Cibali! Consentitemi di usare questa celebre esclamazione di Sandro Ciotti per commentare la decisione dell’ISAF – Federazione Internazionale della Vela – di reinserire il Windsurf nelle discipline olimpiche di Rio 2016 al posto del Kite, dopo la decisione presa nello scorso maggio a Stresa.

Una decisione presa in extremis a poche ore dalla bocciatura in conferenza annuale della mozione firmata da 30 mila atleti di riprendere in considerazione la classe RS:X in rappresenta del Windsurf com’era già successo a Pechino 2008 e a Londra 2012.

Inevitabile e puntuale il commento di Alessandra Sensini, campionessa iridata di Windsurf che sportivamente si augura che il Kite si meriti un posto insieme al RS:X alle Olimpiadi del 2020

Dun Laogharie – Mai più tavola a vela alle Olimpiadi, almeno in quello di Rio del 2016… scrivevamo qualche ora fa. E invece no, l’Assemblea Generale, con una decisione tanto inattesa quanto auspicata dai più, ha ribaltato la decisione assunta a Stresa nel maggio scorso, quando la tavola a vela venne eliminata da programma olimpico a favore del kitesurf.

L’Assemblea Generale ha quindi deliberato il reintegro della classe RS:X come disciplina olimpica per Rio 2016 al posto del kitesurf.

Questa la dichiarazione di Alessandra Sensini in merito alla presenza dell’RS:X a Rio: “Non è il momento di festeggiare. La battaglia fra kite e windsurf non è una battaglia che abbiamo voluto né dall’una né dall’altra parte. Per questo non mi sento di festeggiare: fino in fondo eravamo seduti uno accanto all’altro, facciamo parte della stessa famiglia e anche il Kite ha le carte in regola per essere presente alle Olimpiadi con una medaglia. Al Mid Year meeting era stata una votazione vicinissima e nel frattempo si è capito che non erano state raccolte tutte le informazioni utili. Molte nazioni hanno chiesto di riaprire la pratica e al Council hanno votato a favore ben 28 MNAs: certo non era stato raggiunto il 75% ma la maggioranza sì (51,3%). Il Kite ha fatto veramente grandi passi avanti e insieme dobbiamo essere presenti alle Olimpiadi del 2020”.

Nel frattempo, sempre ieri, sono stati confermati i quattro eventi certi dei Giochi del 2020: Laser, Laser Radial, 49er, 49erFX.

SASSARI 8 novembre 2012 – E’ già in cantiere la quarta edizione dello Stintino Contest. Nei giorni scorsi infatti, gli organizzatori della Mec3 Sport hanno ricevuto il via libera da parte dell'amministrazione comunale di Stintino per partire con la programmazione della quarta edizione dello Stintino Contest che si terrà nel periodo di Pasqua, dal 30 marzo al 1° aprile 2013.

Il programma della manifestazione dedicata agli amanti del windsurf, kitesurf e sup prevede in sintesi:

sabato 30 marzo:

dalle 10 alle 12 gara raccolta rifiuti in collaborazione con EcovelaPlay

dalle ore 16 registrazione partecipanti

ore 21 cena

domenica 31 marzo:

ore 10 apertura del villaggio e, compatibilmente con le condizioni meteo, prove di slalom, ins&out, wave, frestyle

ore 21 cena

lunedì 1° aprile:

ore 10 apertura del villaggio e compatibilmente con le condizioni meteo prove di

slalom, ins&out, wave, frestyle;

ore 16 premiazioni
